Digital Innovation Units

Corporations on the Track of Start-ups

In our study “Corporations on the Track of Start-ups”, we have been analyzing the landscape of digital innovation units together with the business magazine Capital since 2017, honoring the best units with the Digital Lab Award. Our study is an important basis for action for all companies that want to expand their innovation activities to include innovation labs, company builders, accelerators and the like, or already operate such units. It provides valuable information on how digital innovation units can make measurable contributions to the innovation and transformation of established companies without merely serving as a playground for CEOs and hip creatives.

Logistics

Outbound logistics becomes a success factor for the automotive industry

The waves of disruption in the automotive industry are not stopping at finished vehicle logistics: volatile production meets serious capacity bottlenecks and increased sustainability targets in logistics. At the same time, approximately 14 million finished vehicles were moved in the EU in 2022 – with a disproportionately rising trend. To successfully navigate through times of change and unlock new potential, market players need to reassess their role in the ecosystem and increase their flexibility. Together with leading players, we have evaluated options for action and defined fields of action.

Study 2023

Action fields for finished vehicle logistics

The strategies of established players increase the pressure to act and require a reassessment of their own understanding of their roles. New asset and resource pools offer potential for all players and open up opportunities for new investment partnerships. At the same time, rail is becoming the critical mode of transportation and essential infrastructure capacity is being secured through new strategic collaborations. We outline the key action areas in our study.
