Innovation performance management for the innovation activities of a German FMCG market leader
Our client had recently created an organization unit that was tasked with the early innovation activities of the consumer goods development. As a cross-functional setup, one main task was to combined and bring together the R&D perspective and the marketing perspective. Against this background, it was Infront’s task to develop a comprehensive and lean KPI system for the innovation activities. This should combine activity metrics that create transparency on the work being done and result metrics that create bindingness in the outcomes of innovation activities.
Our innovation performance management approach is heavily influenced by the concepts of innovation accounting – we combine the bindingness of controlling activities with the future-orientation of strategic KPIs. Our framework includes organizational and procedural advice on three levels: Team level, Innovation Funnel and Portfolio level. The conception, finetuning and implementation of the innovation performance management was achieved in a collaborative fashion between Infront and the innovation team of our client.
